This is PS 173. It has over 1,000 students, pre-kindergarten to 5th grade. I couldn't find out when the building was built but it's safe to say it was way before PS 5 was built.

What a forbidding building (at least the way it was shot). My high school, in mid-Sixties, held over 5,000 Brooklynites, and luckily I got lost in the crowd - not! Anyway, this photo reminds me of some of the reasons I'm SO SO glad I am outta shcool.
I think this is a really good photo. How did you get the building to stand at attention?
Attended PS 173 back in 1959-1963. Brings back memories...
