After I posted last night, I realized I had an example of a brownstone according to the definition from metropolisapts.com:
"Brownstones will have a street entrance to the ground floor sometimes referred to as an 'English basement' half a story below street level but ground level with the garden at the back of the house. The first floor or 'parlor floor' can be accessed inside from the ground floor, or from the street via a grand staircase to what serves as the front door of the house."
This is a long shot of this photograph. It has the English basement and the grand staircase which last night's apartments lack.
I'll be back tonight with a new photograph and not one mention of brownstone.
