Somewhere in this house is a book about NYC trees. I'll try to find it.
Love the glowing orange-y light tucked into the doorway.
I think it's a London plane tree. The smooth and patchy olive bark is characteristic. But it's constrained in size because of its location and pruning. That's my guess.
Thanks, b., I was thinking plane tree, too, but didn't know why.
The tree is almost certainly a plane tree because of the bark. It's kin to sycamores and aspens, and does well in urban settings.
