Is it "catty cornered" or "kitty cornered?" And whichever way, where does it come from?
Oh yeah - nice picture. I like the blue sky in the last couple - we don't get much of that in the winter here.
Taking your question seriously, I checked out the definition (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/cater-cornered).
It's both, but I grew up saying catty-cornered and thought kitty-cornered was just a cute way of saying it, but not correct.
And it comes from cater cornered. Which is speculated comes from quatre (French for 4) cornered.
There. I aim to please.
The shadowed lower right corner is beautiful, evocative.
