Last night I went down to the Village to have dinner with my cousins. This is where I got off the subway at West Third Street, looking up Sixth Avenue at the ghostly Empire State Building 31 blocks away.
When you were a kid, did you call it the Umpire State Building?

No, but I will from now on.
Probably not, but my brother called the show "The Long Ranger" (as did SO many other Davy Crocket-cap-wearing kiddies).
Yup, I certainly did, as a matter of fact. And I was Also a big fan of the Long Ranger, too!
I didn't either; but we would say "Empire State Building, catch on? If you don't you'll fall off." Very funny at age 8.
